Marvel’s New Eternals AR Story Experience is Available Now
The Eternals have lived for thousands of years, which means that Marvel had a lot of ground to cover when telling their story on the big screen. And before they fly into theaters next weekend, the studio is giving fans the chance to dive into the finer points of the team’s history. Marvel has announced Eternals: AR Story Experience, a new augmented reality app exclusively available to iOS users.
Once users download the app on their iPhone or iPad, Lia McHugh’s Sprite offers a primer on the Eternals’ achievements throughout the last few centuries. Fans will discover exactly how the team influenced humans’ development as a species. Plus, the app will examine each hero’s powers and even share a few of the team’s secrets.
The new story experience was made possible by the XR whizzes from Technology Innovation Group at Disney Studios Content. Additionally, several members of the Eternals crew pitched in as well. Aside from McHugh, the app features VFX Supervisors Stephane Ceretti and Mårten Larsson and composer Ramin Djawadi. Screenwriter Patrick Burleigh also added some new story details. Sprinkle in some extra contributions from Industrial Light & Magic and you have a must-have experience for die-hard Marvel fans everywhere.
“We’re telling a true Marvel Studios story in a way that fans have never seen before,” said Dave Bushore, VP of Franchise Creative & Marketing for Marvel Studios (via Collider). “We’re very excited to be at the forefront of this groundbreaking form of storytelling, and we’re already developing more of these types of immersive experiences that deepen the fans’ connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Eternals opens everywhere on November 5. You can check out a trailer for the AR experience below.
