HBO Max’s Batgirl movie recently began filming with Leslie Grace in the title role as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. And while Grace has been spotted on set wearing a GCPD T-shirt, there hasn’t been a good look at her in costume…until now. Grace has shared the first photo of herself in the Batgirl costume, and it definitely shows its comic book influence.
Judging by this pic, it looks like Batgirl’s outfit was taken from the “Batgirl of Burnside” era in the comics. Grace also shared a quote from Batgirl: Year One, which offers some insight into Barbara’s mentality.
Earlier this week, the Batgirl movie added Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai to the cast. However, their characters are unrevealed for now. J.K. Simmons is reprising his role as Barbara’s father, Commissioner James Gordon. Michael Keaton will also appear as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Brendan Fraser will portray the film’s villain, and early rumors have his role as Firefly.
Batgirl is currently filming for HBO Max, and it may premiere on that streaming service before the end of the year. But at the moment, there is no set release date.
