New concept art from Zack Snyder’s Justice League reveals an intimidating look at Darkseid in the DC Extended Universe.
One of the things DC fans were looking forward to seeing the most in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (after a redesigned Steppenwolf of course) the evil lord of Apokolips himself, Darkseid. He definitely didn’t disappoint throughout the film, with the flashback sequence showing his crippling defeat at the hands of a historic alliance between the forces of man, Atlanteans, Amazonians, the Old Gods and even a Green Lantern. We also got to see him dressed in a modern interpretation of his comic book costume, which was originally much brighter in the concept designs.
The art from Jerad S. Marantz on Instagram reveals a truly terrifying look for Darkseid, giving the villain his classic red eyes in the art for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The armor is also a little closer to Darkseid’s comics look since it has a brighter purple element woven throughout all the spiky plates. It also looks like he has a scar running across his shoulder, left over from Ares hitting him with his axe. Although the version of the villain in the Snyder Cut looked great, it would’ve been cool to see a slightly more vibrant suit for the New Gods character. Take a look at the design below.

Here is the official synopsis for the Snyder Cut:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
