We can already hear the ‘Smallville’ theme song…
Smallville star Tom Welling revealed he’d like to return to the Superman role to star opposite Robert Pattinson in a future sequel to The Batman.
The Batman is already one of the most anticipated comic-book movies in 2022, but many are wondering what else is in store from this self-contained universe. Photos taken from the Liverpool set of the Robert Pattinson film showed off extras dressed in Superman costumes at some kind of fancy dress party, begging the question; does the Last Son of Krypton exist in the Matt Reeves film? It’s definitely possible, but that only delivers further questions like who should play a new Man of Steel and what kind of hero should he be alongside Pattinson’s moody vigilante? Well, Smallville star Tom Welling seems surprisingly keen to pick up the Superman role again.
During an interview with El mundo geek de Ernestoneitor on YouTube, Tom Welling explained that it would be fun to return to the role if it meant starring alongside his friend Robert Pattinson. Welling was last seen playing his version of Clark Kent in the Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, where he’d actually given up his abilities. Take a look at Welling’s brief comments about The Batman below.
“My buddy Rob Pattinson just did, you know, he’s gonna be the new Batman. It would be fun to be the Superman that shows up in his movie just ’cause he’s a friend of mine. Who knows?”
Would you like to see Tom Welling return to the Superman role in a future sequel to The Batman? What do you want to see from the upcoming Robert Pattinson film? Sound-off in the comments below!
The plot of The Batman is being kept under wraps, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Tom Welling’s Superman in the Robert Pattinson franchise and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
