TheWrap reports Paramount and Allspark Pictures are in talks with Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding to star in the upcoming GI Joe spin-off, Snake Eyes.
The Snake Eyes film is currently in pre-production and Henry Golding is in talks for the titular role according to the trade. RED director Robert Schwentke is attached direct the project. Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote the first draft of the script. Spiliotopoulos is best known for writing Disney’s live-action remake of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
The GI Joe spin-off features the origins of Snake Eyes where he attempts to join the Arashikage Clan in Japan. The ninja clan itself is a group of shadowy assassins who used deception to earn their keep and develop a reputation for performing the impossible.
The Snake Eyes spin-off was first revealed back in May with Brian Goldner producing the project. Paramount Pictures and Hasbro had previously assembled a writers room led by Akiva Goldsman in the spring of 2016 to develop a cinematic universe based on toyline properties Micronauts, Visionaries and M.A.S.K., as well as reboot the GI Joe franchise following 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I Joe: Retaliation which featured Ray Park in the role of the Snake Eyes character.
Henry Golding is best known for his role in last year’s Crazy Rich Asians which managed $238 million at the worldwide box office, making it the sixth highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, and the highest-grossing romantic comedy in the last decade with its domestic haul of $174 million. Disney Unveils New Character Posters For ‘The Lion King’ Remake
Disney released several new character posters for the remake of The Lion King.
Disney’s remake The Lion King is next in the studios’ line-up of live-action retellings of their animated classics and now several new character posters for the film have been unveiled. These new posters for The Lion King may offer the best look yet at the photo-realistic versions of Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, Timon, Pumbaa, Sarabi, young Simba, young Nala, Sarabi, Rafiki, and Zazu.

Here is the official synopsis for The Lion King:
Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny.
