Tyler Rake will be back for more next year.
Netflix wants to start production on Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 2 next year according to writer Joe Russo.
After Extraction became Netflix’s most popular original movie back in July, a sequel was inevitable. The first film was streamed 99 million times in its first month on the streaming service, which is an impressive feat to pull off for a new action franchise. Although perhaps it’s unsurprising with Chris Hemsworth starring in the lead role with Anthony and Joe Russo both attached to the project. But a new interview teases Netflix is looking to start production on Extraction 2 next year.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, writer and producer Joe Russo provided an update on Extraction 2, explaining that he’s still writing the sequel and the current plan is to start production in 2021. He also explained that after the first film, Chris Hemsworth is super excited to get the ball rolling on the sequel – but the writer just needs to finish the script. The star will probably end up preparing for the film after he finishes work on Thor: Love and Thunder. If Extraction 2 starts filming next year it seems likely the Netflix film will debut at some point in 2022. Take a look at Russo discussing Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 2 below.
“Yeah we’re still working on two. We’re in the script phase right now but we’re hoping to shoot that sometime next year. And then you know, say I’m super excited, Hemsworth’s super excited, Netflix is excited so it’s really just a function of getting the script done.”
